Scarlet Joy is my reckoning, a musical project born out of a need to tell my stories, to name and face my demons, one by one.

I (Sophia) created my alter ego Scarlet Joy in 2019, I’m a songwriter, singer and guitar player, influenced by artists ranging from PJ Harvey to QOTSA, Nine Inch Nails to Florence and The Machine. 

 

I’m based in Lincoln, Lincolnshire and released my first album Mourning Pages in 2022 which lays bare the whole human condition, exploring themes of love, loss, hope and fate through it’s potent alternative rock songs.

 

My new EP The Burning Days,  is out now on all major streaming platforms

In writing these new songs, I’ve embraced and descended into deeper levels of honesty and instinct.

 

The EP was written during my early sobriety, reflecting on my addiction and my recovery. 

 

Recorded at Superlfy Studios in Ollerton with Andy Banfield.  The EP features Tom Latham on bass, and Phil Wilson on drums. 

 

To sing is to transform pain into power. To expose wounds is to begin healing. 

 

 My visceral songwriting process is fuelled by a blood red deep empowering joy, a Scarlet Joy.
